Our mission is to make justice more attainable by providing free legal services for low-income individuals, because everyone deserves access to quality legal support.

SMLC's free legal representation is available to those who meet the following criteria:

  • They live in one of the following Florida counties:
    Citrus · Hernando · Hillsborough · Manatee · Pasco ·
    Pinellas · Polk · Sarasota

  • Their household income does not exceed 125% of the federal poverty guidelines. Click here to view the estimates for the 2025 guidelines.

Since St. Michael's Legal Center was founded in 2006, we have been dedicated to making the justice system fair and accessible for those who may be unable to afford legal services.

We help our clients understand and defend their rights, and fight to protect family relationships. Our team offers hope, support, and skilled legal advocacy as they navigate legal challenges that can often feel overwhelming.

SMLC also helps our clients with the filing process of their legal documents. We can provide assistance with setting up a Florida E-File Portal — where individuals can enter their information, and the system will generate the necessary forms for them to file with the courts.

While clients are ultimately responsible for completing and submitting their own paperwork, our team remains available to aid and assist.
